On Monday at Waratah 1, the children in the butterfly room had a fun time exploring with Educator Loris. Loris mixed food colouring and water in an ice block tray and popped it in the freezer. Once it was frozen, she bought the ice cubes outdoor to do some painting. The children enjoyed the cold sensation on their finger tips as they moved the ice across their paper.
This experience is particularly beneficial to infants as it helps them to explore sensations of cold, wet and slippery, as well textures, cause and effect, and colour mixing. As the children grasped their paint popsicles, they were further developing their fine motor skills and muscle control to paint strokes, lines and swipes across their paper.
They each created some sensational masterpieces in their outdoor art studio.
