Waratah 2 had the pleasure of having The Ladybug Academy’s Butterfly Garden visit the centre.
The enclosure was set up in their dining room and each room visited the butterfly garden daily, checking on the process of the beautiful insects and watering the plants when they needed.
Over the course of the two weeks they watched the life cycle of butterflies take place before their very own eyes.
From caterpillars to chrysalis, to their emergence into life as a butterfly. It was absolutely amazing !
Then once the butterflies had hatched and were ready, they were able to release them outside and watch as they flew away. It was remarkable !
There was endless opportunities for ongoing learning and investigating.
Educator Kat was not ready to say goodbye to the garden when the academy came to collect the enclosure on Friday, as there was still chrysalis hanging in the enclosure. Kat found a new home for the remaining chrysalis’s and she was very careful at transferring them……Now we wait for the final butterflies to make their way into the world.
