Look what has come to visit us in our Waratah 2 Centre!
Our wonderful world, full of so many exciting things for us to learn about – we enjoyed watching this stick insect, how he blends in with his environment and then up close holding him we could watch how he moved and swayed just like sticks do in the breeze – how clever is he.
Children had the opportunity to hold the insects and watch as they moved. Some of the insects were more for looking at and observing.
The children learn about nature and the natural world, as well as the concept of what you see is not always what it is – stick insects. The children also learn about how to be gentle to all living creatures by taking care in handling them, using our eyes to carefully watch and then about the importance of making sure living creatures are returned to safe places in their natural environment.
Children grow and develop their knowledge about the world they live in and learn how to care for all living creatures no matter how bug or small.
Our children are connecting with the natural world, learning about the creatures that we share our world with and how we all depend on each other in our eco system.
