Yesterday Tillys Abermain celebrated R U OK DAY with a few activities to teach the children how to recognise when there friend may not be ok. First we started with a group time where Gill explained what R U OK DAY is. We then had a discussion with senarios where we encouraged the children to identify how to be a kind friend and what to do to make sure your friends are ok. We then read a story to the children about kindness.
After lunch the kangaroo children enjoyed watching a video which taught them about the 4 conversation tips such as asking, listening, encouraging action and checking in. Next, the children nominated a friend who has comforted them previously.
The children were then reminded to make sure they ask their friends “R U OK?”
