We had some wonderful new loose parts items bought in to our Cooranbong centre today and the children were eager to explore these setup in our yarning circle. The children were very curious and went over to explore the different items as they quickly discovered the reels fit perfectly onto the pipes. Through problem solving, teamwork and determination, the children were working together to stack the reels onto the pipes, building it up as high as they could reach.

During this open ended play and exploration, the children were interacting with others and working towards a common goal. They were able to test out new ideas, challenge each other’s thinking and build new understandings(EYLF Practices).

The loose parts items and wonderful setup today provided opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine
