Tillys Play & Development Centre Greta is a purpose built early education and OOSH care service which was established in 2010. Our centre caters for 102 children aged between 0-12 years for 51 weeks of the year from 6.30am – 6.30pm. We provide all meals including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and supper, catering for any intolerances, dietary or allergy requirements, prepared fresh daily in our centre kitchen by our dedicated cook. The centre also provides a hat, drink bottle and sunscreen for your child.
Our rooms within the service include two nurseries for children aged 0-2 years each catering for 8 children per day, one toddler room for children aged 2-3 years catering for 15 children per day, two preschool rooms for children aged 3-6 years both catering for 20 children per day, and one Out of School Hours/Vacation Care room for children attending primary school aged 5-12 years catering for up to 30 children each day. Our Tillys OOSH service drops and collects children from our 3 local schools in our area Greta Public School, Branxton Public School and Rosary Park Catholic School using our centre buses with our vacation care program being accessible to all families in the community.
Our two nurseries open up into a generous natural outdoor area, with expansive gardens and grassed areas. The 0-2 yard also includes a sandpit, bike track, slides and climbing walls, large shade umbrellas and a long covered veranda. Our 3-6 outdoor yard embodies large trees for shade and includes an outstanding sized sandpit, bike track, climbing forts and slides and swings. Our OOSH yard has a towering climbing web, basketball and handball courts, and a sandpit. Along with all of the permanent provisions available to the children, the centre’s program facilitates spontaneous learning and play, encouraging children to choose their own experiences for the day depending on their individual interests.
Our preschool aged children have the opportunity to engage in a Transition to School Program for the duration of their enrolment in our preschool aged rooms. Our program is focused on children having the opportunity through play based experiences to develop their emotional, cognitive, physical and social skills holistically to enter into the next phase of their education in formal schooling. Skills such as co-operative play, fine motor strength, core strength, and responsibility for personal belongings are achieved through play based learning. We have a close community partnership with the local primary schools, which assists us in delivering the strongest possible Transition to School Program for our preschool children.
Floor books are used throughout our service to document daily group learning. These floor books are child led and centred around their voices and engagement across the day, created alongside their educators and peers to extend their learning. The floor books provide a collaborative learning environment for all children to engage with if they choose. These floor books will be tailored to suit the needs and capabilities of different age groups.
We empower our children to make choices and decisions involving their play and learning. This is done by providing a high quality and inclusive program for all. We recognise and embrace diversity and understand it contributes to the richness of our society. Within our service educators and leaders strive to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives creating a culturally safe environment for children, families and educators.
