Welcome to Tillys Play and Education Centre – Chisholm
Tillys Play and Education Centre in Chisholm is a purpose-built, 120-place Early Childhood Education and Care service, offering both Long Day Care and Out of School Hours (OOSH) programs for children aged 0 to 12 years. Our centre opened its doors in March 2022 and operates from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, 51 weeks of the year.
We are proud to provide all meals for children in our care, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and supper. Our meals are freshly prepared daily in our onsite kitchen by our dedicated cook, and we cater to all dietary, allergy, and intolerance needs.
Upon enrolment, each child receives a Tillys welcome pack, which includes a hat, Tillys shirt, and drink bottle. For children who sleep during the day, we also provide a Tillys sheet bag to store their bedding items.
Our centre is thoughtfully designed across two buildings, with a spacious playground at the heart of the service. Our service is split into two buildings with our long daycare playground in the middle. Our entry building contains the Front Office, Kitchen, staff room and our OOSH/VAC room. Our Long Day Care area consists of six purpose-built rooms located across the playground, allowing seamless access to both indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day.
We offer an undercover 0 to 2 years outdoor area that enables our youngest children to engage in outdoor play regardless of the weather. Children aged 2 to 6 years share a large play space that is also undercover and features a variety of experiences.
Our outdoor spaces include:
- Forte
- Small and large sandpits
- Expansive synthetic grassed areas
- A mud kitchen
- Slackline
- Creek riverbed
- Slides and obstacle courses
We strongly value an indoor/outdoor play program, giving children the autonomy to move freely between environments, supporting self-regulation, autonomy and engagement in meaningful play.
Our Long Day Care rooms are divided by age:
- Nursery (0–2 years): Two rooms, catering for 20 children daily (12 place & 8 place)
- Toddlers (2–3 years): Two rooms, 15 children each
- Preschool (3–6 years): Two rooms, 20 children each
Our Tillys OOSH service offers before and after school care, with drop-off and pick-up services to two local schools: Thornton Public School and St Aloysius. We provide daily transport via our centre buses.
During school holidays, our Vacation Care program is open to the wider community. It features a wide range of engaging experiences, special events, and excursions to local attractions. The OOSH and Vacation Care program caters for up to 30 children per day in a dedicated, well-resourced indoor/outdoor space.
At Tillys Chisholm, we are deeply committed to building trusting, respectful, and authentic relationships with every child and their family. We believe that when children feel safe, secure, and supported, they thrive. We see each child as a unique, capable, and confident learner, and we reflect this in our everyday practice through caring, responsive interactions and thoughtfully designed environments.
We use the OWNA app to share daily updates, photos, and learning goals with families. This platform allows for open, ongoing communication and collaboration in each child’s learning journey. We recognise families as children’s first and most important teachers and strive to foster strong, meaningful partnerships to support the best outcomes for every child.
Throughout the year, we host a wide range of centre events that bring families, children, and educators together. These experiences are thoughtfully planned with input from both children and families, reflecting the voices and interests of our community.
We are proud to deliver high-quality care and education, reflected in our ‘Exceeding’ rating from the National Quality Standard (Assessment and Rating – July 2023), as well as our multiple Tillys Awards wins and nominations. Our dedicated team of educators are passionate, professional, and committed to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for every child.
At our 2025 Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday 8th February, celebrating our educators for 2024, Tillys Chisholm and it’s educators were nominated as finalists and won a number of awards for their excellence and dedication to Early Childhood Education and Care. These include:
