Throughout the week, the children learnt how to be sustainable and what they can do at home to reuse, reduce and recycle through stories, discussions and activities.
We planted beans in our vegetable garden and patiently watched them as the started to grow. We then composted and fixed up our worm farm, and placed our rubbish from meal times into the correct sections of our recycling bin. The children also participated in a recycling game and an environmental activity where they had to identify if rubbish in an ocean or forest environment was safe for the animals. They then needed to remove the rubbish and place it in the correct section of the recycling bin.
These experiences furthered the children’s understanding of how to better look after the Earth and why we must continue to respect the environment we live in.
