The children at Greta Tillys have recently been involved in a variety of learning experiences based around Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day.
As well as completing our Acknowledgement of Country the children have also been learning to appreciate the Indigenous culture such as a different way of living and being a part of the land. We explored the concept of a Humpy or a Kukirr, which is a Wonnarua word for house or hut (learnt through the Wonnarua App). We first did this through the exploration of small world play, as Educator Bridget explained these aspects of the small world, we then extended this through providing natural materials to create our own Humpy’s in our sandpit. 🌿
